D.C. Building Systems, Inc. was established in 1989 by Don Clark with the assistance of longtime friend and employer Bill Kellogg of Tug-Hill Construction. The Company has specialized in pre-engineered metal building work from the inception becoming a Varco Pruden Metal Building Dealer in 1989 and adding the Nucor Building System Line in 2018. Over the years DC has grown and in 2007 Don took on a partner to help facilitate further growth.
Mark Boss joined DC Building Systems as a Vice President after leaving Tug Hill Construction, Inc. Mark had been the Operations Manager since 1992 and had also acted as a Project Manager on numerous construction projects consisting of constructing large private heavy civil earthwork projects, military combat training ranges for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and multi-story buildings. Many projects were more than $35 million. With Don’s eye on retirement. Mark and Don reached out looking for another partner to replace Don and allow Mark to start looking towards his own retirement.
Bob Porter joined DC Building Systems in 2017 as a Vice President. Bob graduated from Clarkson University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as from the State University of New York at Potsdam with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics, both in 1993. Bob has over 30 years of experience in construction industry. He was a long time Project Manager at Bette & Cring, LLC (Formerly Barry Bette, and Led Duke Inc). While working at Bette & Cring, Bob was tasked with allot of the larger more complicated projects including the $35M Champlain Land Port of Entry, and the $34M renovation and addition project at the Guthrie Medical Center on Fort Drum.
As the Company continues to evolve, we have continued to follow our roots in the pre-engineered metal building construction industry. We have also started to branch out into some more complicated civil, and heavy industrial projects, but with our focus remaining on Design Build Projects for both public and Private customers. We pride ourselves in the repeat business, many of our customers we have been working for since 1990.
